Several people were hurt following a multivehicle crash in Nassau County on Wednesday evening.

The Lakeview Fire Department responded to the scene on the Southern State Parkway eastbound between Exits 17 and 18 in Lakeview.

According to fire officials, a motorist suffered a medical emergency before striking ten other vehicles.

Multiple people were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries via Nassau Police Ambulance and Northwell EMS.

Upon arrival, firefighters worked quickly to secure the fluids and debris that were scattered across the roadway to reopen the lanes that had traffic backed up during rush hour.

There were residual delays on the westbound side of the parkway and on the local side streets, officials say.

News 12 has reached out to State police for more information on the collision and the condition of those injured and are waiting to hear back.
